Oddworld: Munch's
Oddysee
[FAQ's]
Hints & Tips
Splinterz Manufacturing: Inhabints sign
When you have possession of the Glukkon "Splinterz", look at the desk to see
an Inhabints sign.
Spliterz Manufacturing: Floating and sliding Abe
When you are possessing or resurrecting, a laser will hit Abe.
Then as the laser
is hitting Abe, start running in circles and he will float or slide
around.
Jump higher as Munch
Just as soon as you jump out of the water, immediately press
A
when you do see Munch's headport.
Possession Orb
Hold
L
to chant and create a Possession Orb made from
Spooce. The longer you do Chant, the larger the Orb will be (and farther it can
travel). Once it is formed, you can also move the Orb around the level.
However, it will sink if you attempt to bring it across water. If you do
not use the Orb within a certain amount of time it will go
away.
Meep Herder Village: No Meep herding
If you do not care about losing a small amount of Quarma, you can play
without herding the Meeps. Just pick up one of the four Mudokons in
the Meep field and take them up the ramp you just came down. Walk off the
edge, pick them up once again, and throw them off (but do not follow them).
Repeat this until all of them are dead. Then, get 50 Spooce and
proceed to the
Resurrection Totem. Then revive the Mudokons five times (the four you
just killed, and one that is there at the start of the level). The four
that you have killed will no longer sit around and ignore you they are
now normal Mudokons. This will take a while to do, but nowhere
near as long as it does to herd the Meeps.
Getting the Mudukons across the minefield
When you are on the level where you have to get every Mudokons across
the large minefield, you can carry them all across on the left side of
it. But be careful not to go too high on the side or you will slide down
and likely hit a mine.
Note:
Before you do carry everyone across
make sure Munch is close to the thing where the egg goes when you die
it is really hard to go back. To return easier, just have Abe die
then have Munch revive him. Also, have plenty of Spooce on Abe. You
will have to transform every Mudokons to Mudarchers (the ones
that shoot) in order to live. That will cost 20 Spooce, and will
cost 30 Spooce to do it if they happen to die.
In the level with the mines, where it appears you have to take
several Mudokon across, there is a far less time consuming and
frustrating way to do it. Just create a Possession Orb then cross the
minefield into a Slig. Then, go up the ramp and pull the lever to
open the gate. Then go through the gate and across the bridge then
attempt to
kill as many other Sligs as yolu can. Keep doing this until all
Sligs are gone. Next, round up the Mudokons by the Resurrection
Egg and Totem Pole. Take every Mudokons to the small fence where
you came from and throw them over. Then walk to the left of your screen
next to the water, and there will be another fence. You can throw
the Mudokons over this fence if you are in the proper spot.
Once on the other side, stroll over the bridge, convert your clan of
Mudokons into Mudarchers, and complete the level.
Crossing water as Abe
A fast way to get across the water is take control of Abe and jump
constantly. You could lose a life. Quickly press
A
to not go
into the water.
Move faster as Abe
When being pursued as Abe, continually press
A.
Recycling Machines
On any level in the game that has a "Recycling Machine" that tears up
anything near it (for example, any of the Sloghut levels), as
Abe you can pick up your friends or enemies and throw them in it.
While on any other level, have Abe call all of his friends then
change
to Munch. Have him call all his friends. Note that Abe and his
buddies will follow you. Go near some enemies. As soon as the enemies see
you, call your friends once again and run into the recycling machine.
What comes next is a nice massacre killing Munch, the Fuzzles after
him, Abe, the Mudokens following him, and any enemies that also ran into
the machine.
While in the Sloghut levels, there is a machine that Munch controls
that can pick people up. Pick up all the Slogs and drop them outside
of their pens. Then, before they are killed, drop the Sligs inside
the pen. Next, pick up one and move it around. Notice the Slogs on
the ground always pursues its shadow. Hold the Slig so that its shadow
is over the recycling machine and watch the slogs run into it. When
they are dead, drop the Sligs in it also.
If Munch ever gets too close to the machine while he is riding
his wheelchair, the wheelchair will get demolished, but Munch will be
thrown safely from harm.
Better endings with Quarma
The ending will always be different depending how much Quarma you
have. Just save as many people as you can, because you may not be able
to finish the game at the end. if your Quarma level is too low, you
will see a FMV sequence that shows the Fuzzles killing you. The
level is after you manage to get Lulu rich, and you go into the ship. Have at
least 75% of the Quarma bar filled to view the good ending.
Fun with Sligs and Slogs
In both Sloghuts, you it is possible to have fun with the Sligs and Slogs.
Just drop the Sligs into the Slog pens and watch the Slogs chase them
down, attempting to take a big chomp out of them. The Sligs will
die in time, so you will still need to put the Slogs into the recycler
to be on the safe side.
Health power-up
On the later levels when you are using Abe or Munch, have the character
you are not controlling stand next to a health vending machine. Then
when
Abe (for example) gets hit, switch back to Munch, use the machine,
then swiftly tap
Character Change
before the little guy
drinks. Then you will find the health power-up will go to the character
who is nowhere near the vending machine and in this case it is Abe.
