Hints & Tips

Easy kill
After beating Sebastian and getting the Dark Gift Charm, use it on a enemy that you are not able to charm. It will appear as if they have a headache. Swiftly run towards the enemy and attack. Redo this until the enemy is killed.

Raising Kain's lore
When you come across a save point, skip it. Instead, first kill all the enemies in front. After your happy with the amount of enemies you have killed, go back to the save point that was skipped and hit it. The game records your lore level at this point. Next, after the save point is hit, kill yourself. And when you regenerate at the save point, you will have the same amount of lore. All the enemies that you killed are back. Kill them again and get even lore. The Relic Boxes also work in this way.

Note: Do not max out Kain's lore (blood bar about the same length as lore bar and lore bar is full). If this is done and the game is saved, Kain's blood bar will go back to absolutely nothing. If this occurs, a simple jump will cause Kain to die. If you do kill all available targets (this includes humans) during the game, you will get the same blood bar level as you would by using the trick. If you do use this trick and are close to maxing out, stop drinking blood and opening relics. Otherwise, you will lose all your hard work when you save.

Instant death attack
To preform an instant death attack, you need to have mist in the area of the person. Go into the mist using your dark skill ability "Mist", then sneak up behind them. Then a skull will appear. Use this time to attack and you will cause instant death to your enemy.
Note: If you run into the front of the person, they will attack right away.

Easier health
The instant after clearing a checkpoint, if you are low on health, reload the game. You will be back precisely where you were, but your health meter is now full.

Beating Magnus
Magnus is simple to beat. When he is standing in the center of the giant fountain that is surrounded by statues, run and hide behind the nearest one. He will try to burn you, but will hit the statue. Jump out and shoot him with Telekinesis very swiftly. Once he falls into the water, run behind the next statue until he attempts to burn you again and repeat this method until he leaves. It should only take three times. In the next room you will see giant statues holding scythes. Magnus cannot burn you again, but he will charge into you. Do not bother hitting him. It does not do any good. Then get in front of one of these statues and get him to charge you. When he does, dodge him and he will run into the scythe, breaking it. Once it breaks, you will see a glowing telekinetic switch. Jump onto one of the boulders or platforms so Magnus cannot reach you, and shoot the switch. The statue will open its arms. Do this to all of the statues and the gigantic statue in the center of the room will be put back together. Then get Magnus to charge into the base of the weapon that the statue is holding the same way as before. When it breaks, make him charge into the base until the statue falls and crushes him. Just stand next to it and shoot Magnus with Telekinesis. This should make him charge you.

When you are battleing Mangus, it is a lot easier if you just grab him and throw him into the giant statues holding scythes. Even if you miss with the throw, he can still bump into them when he is getting up, and they will still manage to break.

Beating Marcus
You will battle Marcus in a cathedral, on the bottom floor first. On the left and right sides of the room are switches, one on each side. These switches activate bells which interrupt Marcus' concentration and leave him vulnerable for a brief time. Hit one switch, then run to the other switch, hitting Marcus on your way. Continue this until his "puppets" turn off the bells. Proceedup to the second floor. Marcus will just run around until you kill him. Use the jump ability to switch between sides, hitting him on the way. Once he dies, you get the Charm ability.

Chase him into the room that has two switches on both sides. Once there, run to a switch and use it to ring the church bells. This will briefly paralyze Marcus. Attack him with combos and the Fury power. When he recovers, run to the switch on the other side and ring the bell once again. Continue to do this until he summons the bishops. Then run upstairs and attack the guard, gaining any lost blood and weapons. He will be invisible, but will occasionally reappear. When he does, chase him, then attack him. You can still harm him while he is invisible. He will summon more guards, but will be beaten before long.

Just hit the bell switches and hit him when he is stunned. Then when his puppets disable the bell, you can still ring it by jumping into it. He is easier to find that way. Then, just run around killing enemies while hacking up Marcus, intermittently ringing the bell. You can avoid the puppets altogether, but you will want to build up your Lore bar as much as you can.

To beat Marcus follow the strategies above until his "puppets" break the bells. After this happens, chase Marcus until you run into his "puppets". Kill the puppets, raising your Lore and Blood bar. He will be on the same floor as his "puppets" this will help you learn where his next minion is at. When you locate him, use combos continually until he loses.

Beating Faustus
At first, you are in a tiny circle room with two doors. All you have to do is face the Boss and hold
Attack + Block. Then wait for him to attack. He has four different types. In the first, he will do a five or six hit combo. In the second, he can punch, then kick. In the third, he will just kick. In the fourth, he jumps back with a red glow and lunges forward. When he uses his first type of attack, wait until he punches a third time, then let go of your block and attack. Repeat this roughly five times to go on. In the next room you must use the mist form to sneak up to the furnace and burn him. To do this, you must first locate the two furnaces with fog in front of them. They are on opposite sides. When you first go into the room, one is to the left and the other is to the right. Then run around until he jumps to one of the two, then sneak to the corner and turn the mist on. Slowly walk to the switch and fry him. Lastly, he will jump around and lunge at you. Just run around until he lunges. This will make him to eventually fall. Run up to him and use a combo. This has to be be done roughly three or four times in order to beat him.

The easiest way to beat Faustus is to block until your Fury bar glows and hit him with that. Dodge each time you see him try to use a glyph attack. It only takes two Fury hits to get him to go to the furnace room. Load up the Mist glyph and head to a steam spot right away. You should be able to turn on the furnaces without taking much damage running from steam spot to steam spot. Once he gets burned and starts running around the rafters, just run around the edges of the room until you hear him drop down. Then try to be near a corner or wall. Wait for him to jump at you, then jump or dodge his attack. Once he hits the wall, he will be stunned. You can now hit him with a good combo before he jumps back up to the rafters. Repeat this two or three times and he will die fast.

At the start, equip your Fury power. Block his combos, and back up when you see him charge up with a red attack (which is unblockable). Attempt to get some hits in, then use Fury when it is charged up. You will then go into a room with four furnaces. handily, one furnace has mist that flows close to the middle of the room. Chase him around until he is on top of that furnace. Then, without getting too close to it, use the Mist power, and turn on the furnace. You will need to do this roughly three to four times. Finally, he will jump up into the ceiling and strike you when he comes down. Keep running close to the walls, and he will run into them. Attack him when he recovers. Keep this up until he is beaten.

Just keep blocking and sidestepping his attacks while locating open spots for attack until you get roughly one quarter of his life down. Then, he will run off and go into a room will large heaters and mist around them. When Faustus jumps on to a heater, go towards the beginning of the mist trail that leads to the heater and pull the switch to hurt him. Then keep repeating this procedure until he jumps up on to a chain, then run to a corner of the room and stay there until Faustus jumps down. He will now attempt to jump and kick you from far away. If you sidestep his attack, he will hit the wall and will be vulnerable for a few seconds. Keep redoing this until he is dead.

Beating the Sarafan Lord
When the battle starts, the most important thing to do is to find him. When you do, proceed to the platform across from him so that there is a walkway between you. When he fires the energy orbs, jump above the first one and stay down on the second. Then, jump again on the third. When he is over you will have seconds to use your Telekenisis on him. When you use it, switch over to jump right away and knock him off the ledge. You cannot be too close to him when you attempt to jump or he will teleport away. When he has the Soul Reaver out, switch over to Immolate. He only has one set of attacks. He hits you five times, then uses the magic red sword. Block his five attacks, jump back from the sword, and then use Immolate on him. This is the only way to harm him here. Do this three times to go on. When you get the Soul Reaver, he still has the same attack pattern (five hits then the magic punch). Block the five hits and jump straight up in the air to dodge the red hit. When you get down, immediately use the Soul Reaver. You can only hit him one time per round of attack. It will be awhile before you can beat him.

Once you have obtained the Soul Reaver, build up your special power and use the berserk attack. It will kill him usually within two hits.

After obtaining Kain's Soul Reaver back, the Sarafan Lord will hit you with his five punch combo and his power punch. Then block his five punches and dodge his power punch so you can charge up Kain's "Berserk" attack. When done, just block the Sarafan Lord's punches and side step his power punch, then hit him with the "Berserk" attack. If the Sarafan Lord does not block the attack, just redo and be happy with the ending.

To beat the Sarafan Lord, dodge the shots from the Soul Reaver, then use Telekinesis to stun him for a short time. In this time, switch Dark Abilities to Jump and attack him. This will knock him off. An intermission sequence will begin, then you will have to fight once again. During this time, block until he raises his sword above his head. When this happens, jump directly up and float until he completes his attack. Your Rage Meter should be filling up. When it is full, use Immolate on him. Repeat this method until the first vampire appears. He will be hurled from the area into banishment. An intermission will play and you will be on the center platform. Once there, repeat the process, except he will rest after doing his combo. Hit him once with the Soul Reaver and go on.

When you have arrived at the third and final stage of the battle with the Sarafan Lord, you must block his first five attacks then attack once. This takes way too long. Instead, select "Berserk" from your Dark Gift menu when the final stage of the battle starts. As you block his first five attacks then dodge his sixth attack (which is unblockable), you will be building up Berserk energy. Block his five attacks then dodge the sixth unblockable attack. Let go with your Berserk attack, and you will get in twice as many hits. You only need to do this twice and the Sarafan Lord will be beaten. This shortens the battle and allows you to finish the game with much less frustration.

For the first part, wait for him to teleport, then make your way to him while dodging his blasts. Before you stand on the same platform he is on, fire a shot of Telekinesis to knock him back. If done properly, you will see him start to lose his balance. While still standing far off, use the Jump power to knock him off the platform. For the next part you have to face him in hand-to-hand, except you are not going to use your hands except to block. He will do a five hit combo, then an unblockable attack. After blocking the first five, back off and wait for him to finish his attack. Then, move back in and keep blocking. When your rage is high enough, use the Immolate attack. This is the only attack that can harm him. After the short intermission sequence, you will fight him again, but this time with the Soul Reaver in your hand. Once again, he will do the five-hit combo plus the unblockable attack. There is only one way to harm him, grab him and stab him. Do this a few times, and you will view the ending sequence.

When Kain has the Soul Reaver and the Sarafan Lord preforms the five hits, dodge the magic hammer blow. Then, grab the Sarafan Lord and thrust the Soul Reaver through his chest. You will beat him in less than a quarter of the time it would take with one hit on every turn.

When the battle first starts, find him rapidly. Then, go to the nearest platform to him (not the same one) and use your Telekinesis dark gift. Use it on him, then use your Jump dark gift and jump on him. It will knock him off the platform. He will say some things about the Nexus Stone. Kain will drop the Nexus Stone off the platform, destroying the Hylden Gate. After that, do your normal block dodge attack moves and use your dark gift Immolation. This will take him down fast. Ionnis will appear, and he and the Sarafan Lord will fight. The Sarafan Lord wins and Ionnis will tell you to pick up the Soulreaver. You will need to do normal block dodge attack and use your dark gift Berserk to bring the Sarafan Lord down very quickly.

Beating the big mosquitoes
In just about every scene, the enemies have boundaries that they cannot cross. If you locate these boundaries, the mosquitoes will be waiting on the opposite side for you to cross back over. Use the jump attack by jumping over and kicking them. Then, before they recover, run back over the boundary line. After four kicks the mosquitoes will die. It is harder when there are two waiting for you, but it can still be done.

Wharves: Jumping to Rune Knights
Around the center of the Wharves chapter is a place where you have to continually jump across a river with one Rune Knight in each area you jump to. But before you jump, hit the Rune Knight twice with Telekinesis. When you jump, try to make the jump indicator red so that you hit the Rune Knight. While he is on the ground, draw your weapons or get your claws out. The instant he stands, start attacking and catch him off guard. Two hits should be needed with bare claws and only one hit with some sort of weapon.

Beating Sebastian
When the battle starts, run the other way of the mist shooting out of the grates. Jump over when required. Sebastian will not jump, and burn himself. In his second phase, you must be directly behind one of the mists and follow it around until it stops. When he grabs onto the wall, put the purple portal object between you and him. He will run straight into it. Do this three times to go on. In his third phase, he will try to destroy the stone. Jump up there so he gets off and charm the peasant in the room to unload all of the mist on the ground. His fourth phase is just a fist fight until the end.

At the start, block his attacks and watch out for his red attack. Be careful after you knock him down, he will charge at you with an unblockable tackle. Simply undo the Autoface and jump over him. Next, he will start to run around in circles while a column of thunder hits the center of the room. Run around the center while avoiding the dangerous gases from the side of the room. When you see him stop, this means he will strike at you. Stand in the room so that the column of thunder is between you and him. He will run into it, then leap back into the side. Repeat this roughly three times. Knowing he cannot beat you, he will try to destroy the Nexxus Stone. Jump on top of the platform and use the Charm Gift on the guard that is activating the switches. Use him to operate one of the switches and draw Sebastian to you. Continue to attack until he is beaten.

Allow Sebastian to kill you one time. Then, allow the game to idle and watch the "steam" appear and kill Sebastian.
