Blue mosquito decoration
Hold L2 when choosing your shift assist option. Keep the buttons held until the game has finished loading. A blue mosquito with yellow sunglasses will be hanging from the roof of your car in the first person view.

Dog decoration
Hold L1 when choosing your shift assist option. Keep the buttons held until the game has finished loading. A dog with horns will be hanging from the roof of your car in the first person view.

Man decoration
Hold R1 while selecting a transmission type. Keep the R1 held until the game finishes loading to see a man hanging from the roof of your car in the first person view.

Genki Gremlin decoration
Hold R2 when choosing your shift assist option. Keep the buttons held until the game has finished loading. The Genki Gremlin can be seen hanging from the roof of your car in the first person view.

Display replay meters
Press Select while playing.

Control replay view
Start a replay in the driver view position, then press L1 or R1 to pan the camera.

Fixed replay view
Hold Triangle when the replay is ready to start.

Sort car selections
When you are selecting a car to purchase, press Square to sort them by default, the car name, the price, power weight ratio, and torque weight ratio.

View one-on-one battle positions
Press Square during a one-on-one battle to view the positions of all other cars.

View free run positions
Press Square at the course selection screen in free run mode to see the other cars.

Skyline car
Beat the Speed King to get $3 million and access the Skyline car for purchase.

White Carismo car
Beat the last Zodiac (White Carismo) to access his car and get roughly $4 million dollars.

To get $5 million dollars when you beat White Carismo, let him win the first time he challenges you. Then go up, challenge him, and win. At the ending you will see a message appear that saying "Challenge Ending = 5 Million Dollars".

Faster acceleration
When racing, hold Accelerate then hold Reverse. You will accelerate quicker very briefly.

Full pause screen
Pause the game play, then press Triangle + Square. To restore the pause screen, press Triangle + Square again.

Delete scores
Hold L1 + L2 + R1 + R2 and press Start while at time record screen.

Datsun 240Z (Fairlady) car
Beat every racer to receive a challenge from Racer #400. Beat him to access the Datsun 240Z for purchase.

Level 7 engine, level 8 muffler, and all 5 levels of body tune
In order to access these items, you will need 1,860 miles on your odometer. You can gain roughly 500 miles for seven hours of driving in auto pilot mode. To enter auto pilot mode, challenge a rival and when the race is done, allow the game to idle and the CPU will take over in time. Note: This will only work for the car with the miles.

Car part preview
Select the exhaust or aero at the parts selection screen. Press Triangle as the view zooms in to keep the camera away from the car. Press Triangle again to resume the zoom.

Analyze menu
During a race, highlight "Return To Garage" and press Square + Down. Repeat the code to remove the display.

Or pause the game immediately when you start a drive in quest mode. Scroll all the way down the pause menu to access an "Analyze" option under "Retire". This will allow you to see the turning rate, accelerator, and brake pressure. This only works at the very start of the drive and you cannot turn it off once active. Note: This may be dependent on the car type or parts.

Siren
Select a type 5 spoiler for the R30 or R30M, then use the horn.

Machine gun
Select a type 5 spoiler for the R30 or R30M. A machine gun should materialize somewhere on the car. During a battle, press Reverse + Brake to fire the gun.

New nickname
Select any team sticker for your car and the team will get a new nickname.

For example, beat one the of the "Another Star" gang. Afterwards, purchase his car, fix it up, and put the "Another Star" sticker on your car. Your nickname should be changed to "Over The Top".

Hints & Tips

Trip meter
Do not allow the trip meter (positioned under the odometer) go much father then 100 to 150. If your car goes beyond that point, you will notice a lack of acceleration and top speed. To get this meter to go back down to 0, pause the game , and select "Return To Garage". Once in the garage, select "Start Race" and trip meter will be back down to 0.

Easy race win
Have good acceleration and send the other car in to the back of pedestrian cars.

If you happen to race a rival and are in the lead. To lose them, drive past any traffic and honk your horn. The traffic will change lanes and block the other driver for you. This is one way to get ahead in your race. However, this will only work if you get close to the traffic and honk. Also, it will only work sometimes and should not be used.

In the Kanjoy area, you should see a location where there are two roads blocked. The cars will all stop there so they do not hit the wall. If you keep going, you will get ahead far enough that they cannot catch up. It is also a good idea to challenge them there, so you can get a head start.

Gaining mileage
If your mileage is low and you need to gain but do not want to drive in circles, challenge a rival. After the race is over it will stay in auto-pilot with the trip meter and odometer still ticking (eventually leading the way to the level 8 muffler and level 7 engine).

Beating Speed King
In order to beat Speed King, simply use R33 with special tuning:

Steer: +10
Acceleration: +13
Braking: +14
Brake Balance: 0
Ride Height: -14
Gear Ratio: Default except final gear: 3.03
Spring Rate: +10 front and rear
Damper: -12 front and rear
Turbo Boost: 1.40

You can also use the Inner Kanjyo or Outer Kanjyo track because that car doesn't move fast in the narrow street.
