Hints & Tips

Random items from chained hits
If you happen to score a certain number of chained hits, various items will appear. For example, a small green health orb (20 hits), orange blast orb, black strength-up orb (100 hits). Note: After picking up an orange orb, you are allowed time between hits is longer for a brief of time.

Expedition levels
In a few expedition levels, you may come across a man that comes out of the ground. He is shaped like a normal enemy unit, but is black and surrounded by colored flames. The flames change color. When the flames are red, he is vulnerable to only magic attacks (Triangle). When the flames are blue, he is vulnerable to physical attacks. A timer is above his head shows how much time is left for you to kill him. It begins at 60 seconds. If you kill him in time you will be rewarded with at least 20 kills, for just one opponent.

Easier kills
When your in the first or second mission, find a group of weak soldiers and use your magic attack once (Triangle is normal). Then, hit them with your sword or ax. To see if it did work, press L3 to view their health.

Also attack enemies until you receive the last flashing (on the weapon) combo attack. Then press Triangle to achieve a bigger attack on the enemies.

For an easier earthquake blow kill, walk fast until you run, then press Jump then Attack at an enemy group. If you do happen to have a powerful weapon on the right spot, you can kill all the enemies with just one blow. This will work on all enemies.

Just focus on one enemy when your attacking using the dragon in ground missions. After attacking one or number of group enemies, preform a passing move off them slightly, then press L1 + R1 to preform an 180 degree turn. Then, attack them once again. Do this until they are dead. It is easier to focus on them if you move the Left Analog-stick.

First kill the group Leader first before you kill other enemies in the group. The leader is marked with a yellow dot. After that, the skill's of the enemies will be lowered and they will be easier to kill.

For an easier dash attack kill, walk fast until you run (with dashed sign when you already run), then press Attack at an enemy group. If you have powerful weapon on the right spot, you can kill all the enemies with just one blow. This will work on all enemies.

Chapter 11: Human hurdles
When you are in Chapter 11, you will come across enemies that have large shields in narrow halls. When they charge at you, you can just over top of them instead of blocking, taking the hit, or using magic to stop them. If you are lucky, once you jump over one, the one behind him will start to charge. It is similar to doing hurdles with humans.

Orbs
The orbs will not appear at random. The color of the orb (orange or green) that will appear depends on whether your character was hit a short time ago, and the type of the last orb that was picked up. If you character was hit before a chain was finished, the next orb color will be green. This is still in effect even if you were hit a long time ago. If you are able to finish the needed chain amounts (17, 36, etc.) without being struck by an enemy, then you will receive orange orbs every time. This will reset on each mission.

Dragon upgrades
Dragon upgrades will only start in a certain part of the story and are not based on the experience you will receive.

Controlling weapons or magic
When you do hit enemies, use the Left Analog-stick to make a fast turn on every hit to enemies that want to attack you from the rear.

Beating black dragons
You cannot always hit the black dragons with tracking shots. If you are a smart player, you can figure out its flight pattern and can hit it with a few dummy shots.

Attacking red armored opponents
remember do not attack people with red armor. Your magic will still do the harm, but green magic missiles will shoot back at you. Also your dragon's fireballs and specials will also result in the green magic missiles being shot back at you. To dodge them, press L1 or R1 to stride to the left and right while you are on your dragon or on foot.

Stronger weapon
Do the expedition event and kill every enemy with your weapon.

Larger magic attack
Whenever you use Leonard or the first girl you get who made the pact with fire and water and lost her womb, you can cast magic using Triangle. However, if you hold Triangle you will unleash an attack five times the normal size. It effects the whole screen of enemies, and since you have unlimited magic as an ally, it is really useful.

Weapons from treasure boxes
In every ground level when you kill everyone, but not the targets, the game will state that a treasure box has appeared. Now press R3 and your map will show you where, in a blue shaped box. Each treasure box on the ground levels like this gives you a weapon.

Elf Village: Victors Spoils (spear)
First castle level environs: Hunters Blade
Ice third level: Poison Glaive

Easier health
To receive health easier, just kill one of the large groups of enemies of roughly six to ten soldiers, in the X, square or octagon formation. A tiny health should appear when you have killed them.

Easier experience
You can use a weapon that does little damage and bash into a large group of enemies with a plenty of other enemies close by. Then, hit them with the weapon or magic to make a lot of hit combos. The larger the hits combo you make, the more experience points you will receive.

If you are finding it hard to level up some of the weapons that are not strong (for example, Hunter's Joy), attempt to save your game and reset the PlayStation2. When you reload your game, start from Chapter 1 again and play the first mission. If you are skilled, then it should be no problem to obtain  over 1,000 kills on this level, which will easily get your weapon up to level 4.
