Hints & Tips
Golem Mask and Stuffed Bear
When you are fighting Bebedora and her two Altimas, it is
a good idea to either kill the Altimas or steal from them to make
sure you get Bebedora's Stuffed Bear and Maru's Golem Mask.
He rbs
Use this trick to
receive ten free Herbs. In Chapter
1 of Darc's story, after you have Densimo into your party go to
the entrance of Gorma's House. Look to the left, and you will
see a yellow skinny Orcon walking around. Talk to him and he will
note that Densimo is in your party, causing him to start talking
about the five Wonders of Orcoth. Now pretend that you care about
what he says and say that you will listen. He will ask you a few
f times if you are still interested in listening. Just lie and say
"Yes". In time he will ask you how many words were
in what he just gave. Choose the one that reads 600-800 and he will give you ten
Herbs. Note: You have
to do this while Densimo is in your party. Doing it earlier or after results in
you getting nothing.
Knuckle Guard
When you are playing as Kharg in the beginning,
after going through the whole Banjo, Lloyd, Spirit Stone scenes,
go to the bottom-left of Yewbell to the refinery. Talk to the
man outside and he will say he is waiting for Banjo so he can
unlock the shop. He will ask you to go find Banjo. Say "Yes",
then go to the item shop. He will be in the upper-right corner.
Talk to him, and he will give you the Knuckle Guard. It raises
only Kharg's Defense and Guard, and it is a good weapon at
the beginning of the game. When you no longer want it, sell it
for 350 G.
Burst Blade
When you are fighting against Darkham and his bodyguards, beat
Darkham first for Kharg's Burst Blade, which nearly doubles his
attack arc width.
Dragon's Wrath and Storm Medallion:
When you are fighting the two giant dragons in Darc's story,
kill the Golden Dragon for a Dragon's Wrath, which puts Darc's
counterattack up to 100, or the Silver Dragon for a Storm Medallion.
If you want both items, take the extra time to steal from one
dragon after killing the first.
Joint attack
You can do a joint attack on enemies whenever your
character's body is burning with fire. You will get this burning effect
when you get a certain amount of damage. When using that character
to attack, a nearby ally will team up with you.
Dealing more damage
Attacking the enemies from behind will deal more damage
than from up front. Use this angle of attack whenever you can.
Beating Black Abyss
It is possible to beat Black Abyss at level 33 for
both Darc and Kharg. A long range character (Maru suggested)
is needed. Before you start the battle, equip every character with there
weapons with at least two Diamond Coating or something else that
raises your attack. Equip most of your characters with
at least two Diamond Coatings is suggested. You will also need
two Stone Bags for each character, and extra Gales that
make you speed up in the party items for backup. Allow your character
to learn a long and wide range moves. Then make sure to sell all your
Elixir and other items that effect enemies items, and purchase lot
of Strongest Herd and a dozen Revival Medicines. Give the six
characters at least three Greatest and make sure to have one that can heal.
Store that character with more Strongest Herd and three Revival
Medicines. However, do not throw items that temporary raise ATT
away, as they will also be needed. When you are ready to fight, select
Maru with you and Demelia, or a party with Darc, Kharg, Paulette,
Ganz, Volk and Maru. Black Abyss has three moves: summon Brain
Cell to attack, absorb HP from nearby, and a beam that deals plenty of damage
across the room (but not the edge of the room). This attack will regain his
black mist and raise its defense. Black Abyss has great defense. You must kill
Brain Cell to weaken it. If you notice the black mist around him slowly lighten,
use this strategy. If you have master Black Abyss moves, then
you are ready. Then separate your six characters, three to each side,
and stay at the edge of the room. Then kill each Brain Cell. Do not
use too many moves on them, but on Black Abyss.
Note: If you run
out of SP for moves, re-equip that character's accessories to
Gale to raise that character's speed. Raise Maru's ATT with items. Once you notice the mist
surrounding Black Abyss has gone away, do not go near Black
Abyss. You will find that the Black Abyss has become inactive.
Then use this opportunity to slowly kill Black Abyss with your best long range
attack.
Better aiming
To aim a bit better without moving from your current position,
when controlling your character, hold
R1 during a battle.
Then an arc will appear. The highlighted arc shows the range where
you can attack. Aim at the enemy and attack.
Aiming at multiple enemies
When enemies are nearby, you can attack them
depending on your character's attacking arc. Some are large while
others are small but ranged. Now go to the position that you would
like to attack from. Hold
R1 and aim the arc at the enemies.
Then move the arc left or right to aim properly until you get "targets"
above the enemies you wish to attack. Sometimes you must quit
aiming and move a bit to aim properly. Some require a slight
adjustments so turn very slowly.
Get more skill/magic
When certain characters "class up" at the
end of the battle screen, this indicates you can learn a new skill
or magic. Then go to the menu, select the character that "classed
up" and select "Skill". The magic/skill menu will
then appear, displaying both the learned magic/skill and skill/magics
that have not been learned. Choose the one you wish to learn and
pay the "SP cost" to get it.
Note: You will get SP by attacking
and , killing enemies.
Easier experience
When you are in a battle and there are stumps, crates, etc.,
attack and destroy them. Sometimes you will receive items and Spirit
Stones. It is worth the extra effort because even if it is empty,
you receive experience and SP for them.
When you are in the Flying Castle and are fighting Lilia Getmann,
there will be a few Meshimgen. If you kill one, on Lilia Getmann's
next turn it will summon more Meshimgen. With this strategy
you can get outstanding experience and SP. The Meshimgen also will
usually drop 60 Spirit Stones, so you can use as many skills as
you like. With this strategy, you can level up, get more Spirit
Stones, and have enough SP to get everyone's star number to the
maximum. And allow you to get ready for the powerful final Boss,
Lord Of The Black Abyss.
A easier way to get extra experience is to fight in the Arenas
(Cathena and Lamda in Kharg's story, or Orcoth and Rueloon in
Darc's story). Though expensive (100 G for five to ten fights,
200 G for fifteen to twenty fights, and 300 G for thirty fights),
you can on occasion get 5,000 experience per fight and upwards of
100 SP. A good method for getting though them is to make sure
you have plenty of Spirit Stones or items to keep yourself healed.
Also, remember that the last round is more often than not the
hardest of the entire competition.
Chest behind dog in Milmarma
You will need to have a bone to give to the dog, Rover.
It can be gotten by checking the two rocks behind the old man
in the small land platform leading to the palace. You will not
receive any item. It is just charity work to help little Rover get
a new owner.
Deikbeck impostors
Note: This can only be done
by being Kharg. When you come across
the impostors, they will ask if you believe that they are the
real Deikbeck. Even though their names are spelled a bit different,
do not believe them and select the second answer. The first impostor
is at Parenz Ruins, while looking for the three materials
needed for the Tele-Op. You can find the impostor in the left corner of the area behind a large metal wall. You will
receive
a Shadow Talisman. The second impostor is in Peisus library.
Once you have gotten the Lamda Sutra and have gone out, go back
to the library. Then go into the place where you got the Lamba Sutra
and meet the second impostor. Tell him that you do not believe
him and he will give you a quiz. Answer ten questions correctly
and you will get a Spirit Amulet. Answer at least one correctly
and you will get a Neuro Charge (can be bought in a shop inside
the Flying Fortress) for your airship.
The ten answers to the questionnaire from the Diekbeck imposter in the Library
are listed below.
Counterclockwise
A Cat
Beautiful Stones
Palkia
How Much To Spend On the Entrants' Lunches
A Pair of Dice
The Shinobi Gang
Lakelta Deimos
A Pipe
Buster
You will get a Diek Screw (makes Diekbeck very fast) if you answer
less than five correctly, a Neutrino Chage (for Airship) and Clivis's
Book (rids player of all abnormal status) if you answer between
five and ten, and the Spirit Amulet (blocks Fire, Wind, Water,
Earth, and Light attacks for Kharg to equip) if you answer all
ten.
Beating Demon Droguza
Before you go into the Megis with Darc's party in the
"Evolution" chapter, make sure that Camellia is at least
at level 20 and has every best weapon attachments and armor
(and perhaps speed boosting). Before you go into the elevator
in the lab, make sure that you have transformed Camellia into
her younger self and have plenty of Spirit Stones to max her out.
When you fight Demon Droguza, get beyond the point where he casts
a wall attack spell, but far enough that he cannot swipe at Camellia
(the rest of the party is support). Just keep shooting and he
will almost never hit Camellia, except for his tail bomb attack
(in which case you should be able to heal).
Items
When you are fighting enemies like the Delzweld soldiers, beat the
commanders first. They often carry equipment you can use or sell.
When you are fighting Cameillia, and afterwards Droguza, locate the blue and
green boxes on the battle field and break them open before the battle is over.
The contents are well worth the effort.
When you are inside the Flying Castle, do not go straight to the elevators to
fight the Divine Ruler. Instead, search each floor for the
treasure rooms. There are powerful equipment for every character
spread all over the fortress. |
