Easy difficulty
Lose the game on porpuse two times within the normal difficulty setting.

Hard difficulty
Finish the game completely within the normal difficulty setting.

Samanosuke's alternate costume
Finish the game completely within the normal difficulty setting with a high score as Samanosuke. Or finish the game as Jacques' alternate costume.

Panda costume
Finish secret training mode completely.

Michelle's alternate costume
Finish the game completely within the normal difficulty setting.

Michelle's second alternate costume
Finish the game completely with an "Onimusha" rank.

Jacques' alternate costume
Finish the game completely within the normal difficulty setting with a high score as Jacques. Or finish the game as Samanosuke's alternate costume.

Alternate ending sequence
Raise all seven Haori of Ako to the maximum. This needs all Kodama to be found.

Critical (Issen) mode
Finish the game completely within the hard difficulty setting. In this mode, only critical hits will kill opponents.

Bishamon sword
Finish the game completely with the "Onimusha" rank. Or get the Bishamon sword in the Phantom Realm in Honnouji when Sam goes to the past. To locate it, go to the save spot at the foot of the stairs to the temple, then look to your upper left to find the hanging man. Approach him to be sent to the Phantom Realm. Obtain eight Red Orbs to unlock the chest that has the Bishamon sword.

Oni Musou
Just have Jacques go through the Phantom Realm in Honnouji.

Devilish mode
Finish the game in Critical (Issen) mode completely.

Ultimate mode
Finish the Oni shooting mini game completely. The game will start with Sam having the Bishamon sword, Jacques having his best Oni Musou, unlimited arrows, bullets, unlimited Oni power, thirty Medicines, and ten Talismans.

Oni Shooting mini-game
Finish the game completely within the normal difficulty setting.

Ako's Black Haori
Finish Issen/Oni training completely.

Adventures of Heihachi (Heihachi Buraiden) mode
Finish the game completely. Heihachi (Honda) is now selectable.

Genma Puzzle mini game
Solve every puzzle in the game.

Secret training mode mini-game
Finish normal training mode completely, then finish the game.

Hints & Tips

Kill all Genma onscreen
This can be done without you charging in an Onimusha. Also, block Issen works in an Onimusha and takes out every enemy.

Regain health
Simply qquip Ako's White Haori then stand still.

Bypass Dark Realms
Any of the three Dark Realms can be easily skipped. This takes some skill, Ako's Purple Vest, every weapon for the character, and all weapons been totally enhanced. Whether or not the gauntlet is enhanced is needed. Before you enter the Dark Realm, equip either Chigo or Hyosai. The enemies that attack will appear in several waves. Wait for all enemies to appear, then preform one magic attack. Absorb every soul that appear. Ako's Purple Vest should allow you to do this as many times as needed. But if you are fighting large demons, you may need to get up close with either the Tenso or the Enja. Note: A major part of this method is absorbing the souls. If you feel that you need Ako's Blue Vest also, be sure to switch back and forth as needed. Also, it is a lot easier to go straight for the bottom part of the Dark Realm that you are in, as the tougher enemies are down there. In doing this, you can use your magic better on the tougher enemies and not have to worry about the weaker ones.

Beating Guard Dog
Note: This was done within the normal difficulty setting. First, stock up on magic for every weapon. Then, stock up on all the Purple Souls. At the beginning, jump behind him after he attacks you. Then waste the magic on him. Now use every weapon magic until you do not have any left. After that, use regular attacks. Also watch out for the ice attack. Most of the time the thunder magic from him is off. After a few regular attacks, transform into the Onimusha and attack him. But do not use the mega attack yet. After a few attacks and before your magic runs out use the mega magic attack on him. If he is not beaten then attack him a few more times.

Beating Two Marquless
When your playing as Michelle, go further behind the skull door and throw a few grenades on them.

Hidden Secret Medicine
When you are helping Michelle save her comrades, keep on pushing the ball as far as you an. You will see a light in the water.

Easy Red Souls
Ako's Red Haori is needed this trick. When you reach the port town of Sakai and the demons come out to play, equip Ako's Red Haori. Start to kill demons with Issen or Block Issen. Clearing each area of demons should give you at least three quarters of a full soul bar. The port area is most profitable. The Issen is not needed, but it is most effective. You can upgrade all of you weapons to full with this trick, since one level 2 weapon/equip takes about ten bars to level up to maximum.

Unlimited Genma Souls
Note: This trick will only work for Samanosuke. When you get the Ten-Point Slash Training Scroll, play under the beginner difficulty setting several times. Each time you finish, you should come away with one bar. Do this until you have the amount of souls you want, or until you max all your equipment.

Use less magic during magic attacks
This trick needs the gauntlet for Sam/Jacques to be at least level 2. Now charge up the gauntlet to at least two and unleash a magic attack. With the purple vest on Ako you can do five magic attacks in a row instead of four.

Awards

Bravery: Finish the game without saving.
Critical: Kill over 40% of your enemies with critical hits.
Defense: Receive less than 5,120 damage.
Explorer: Locate all 23 Tengu chests.
