Cheaper Citizen rank
When you do marry, you will gain the "Citizen" rank, regardless of your partner's rank, and you do not have to pay for this. Also, should your partner be lower rank, they will go up to "Citizen" aalso. This will costs you 500 less gold than if you apply for the title first, then marry, as this will only work for gaining the Citizen title.
